Some places should always be seen at night and Shoreditch High Street is one of them. In daylight a dusty grey streaming with traffic.

This tiny square of land on the corner of the station,with it's green concrete floor, is in summer, one of the most in-demand spaces in Shoreditch.  Offer a deckchair and a free sample of beer/ice-cream/coffee or whatever product you are launching and people will come, hordes of them.  January is too cold and it is deserted

Art, Murals or Graffitti, the tourists walk around snapping shots of each other standing in front of it. Locals take it for granted. But most of it in Shoreditch these days is advertising.  Painted walls are more 'hip' than posters, and clubs can re-decorate, re-brand in the twinkling of an eye.

Very linear, very flat. Architects are obsessed with 'Sleek Modern lines' which lets face it are boring most of the time.  Bring back gargoyles, rococco curls and decoration.  And Trees.  Lots and lots of Trees.

It looks like a Great Western Railway seat has been relocated to Shoreditch. The history books describe the redevelopment of the area as 'slum clearence' and a 'Good Thing'.  It didn't do anything to help the locals, who were priced out of the new housing and moved to other poor quarters.  Sound familar?  Today we call it 'Gentrification' and a 'Bad Thing'. The gardens are maintained by the Friends of Arnold Circus.

This is a massive station, from the outside.  Inside it is a humble two platforms.  Apparently it is is designed to allow safe future over-development on the Bishopsgate goods yard site.  A planning application much argued over
